Winter sun seekers set for half term getaways from Doncaster Sheffield Airport

Doncaster Sheffield Airport are forecasting a busy February half term period this month as families head off for some winter sun.

Having been in the grips of a cold winter for months in the UK, the first school holidays of the year are always popular with people who are looking to jet off to warmer climes such as the Canaries and Egypt for some much needed sunshine.

Thousands of passengers are expected to pass through the terminal building during the school holiday period as they take the opportunity to fly between Doncaster Sheffield Airport and a host of destinations across Europe and beyond.

Popular destinations of choice include the wide range of Mediterranean resorts and city breaks available from the Airport, served by operators such as Thomson, First Choice, Thomas Cook, Links Air and Wizz air.

Steve Gill, managing director of the airport, said: “We are always busier during the school holidays and February half term is traditionally a great week for the airport and we all look forward to welcoming passengers ahead of their flights.

“We are known for providing outstanding customer service for all our passengers and preparations for the additional throughput have been underway for some time to make sure that passengers continue to have a great experience here, even when we are busier than usual.

“It has been a particularly cold winter this year and with the choice of affordable flights on offer to a number of winter sun destinations, I am sure that our passengers will be looking forward to heading off on their sunshine breaks and flying from their local airport.”
