Travel agent pair win big with Doncaster Sheffield AirportAugust 4, 2014
A pair of travel agents have won a total of £1,000 after winning a Facebook competition on why they loved Robin Hood Airport Doncaster Sheffield.
Katie Louise Gleadell and Laura Dean from Thomson Travel Agents in Gainsborough secured the shared prize after being voted the best entrants from the airport’s first 1,000 followers on the social media website.
Doncaster Sheffield Airport has been the running the Facebook competition with agents since early July to highlight its activity with the travel trade industry.
Each entry needed to like the airport’s Travel Trade Facebook page and explain why they loved working with the airport, with originality requested for each submission through either words, photos or videos.
To win the overall prize Katie and Laura posed outside of the airport dressed in summer beach wear with a huge banner displaying the words ‘We Love You DSA.’ They also posted a comment on the Facebook page.
The pair’s message read: “If you’re a high flying celebrity and want to avoid the paparazzi, cruise in your Bentley down to Doncaster Sheffield Airport, mingle with other well-known names like Robin Hood and J.D Wetherspoon and relax in luxury before your flight.
“Spend your millions in the excellent duty free, and catch up on showbiz gossip with a copy of OK bought from WHSmiths, with no delays and lots of destinations to choose from, start your jet set trip from everyone’s favourite local airport Doncaster Sheffield Airport!”
Pippa Hall from Newark, who works at the Lincolnshire Co-operative Travel in Newark, also secured £500 for the uniqueness of her entry after performing a special video rap as part of her entry.
Travel agents play an important role in selling a variety of flights from Doncaster Sheffield Airport to passengers across the country.

“Well done Katie, Laura and Pippa for the efforts they went to in winning the prize, they thoroughly deserve it.
