Thomson and First Choice increase capacity from Doncaster Sheffield Airport and introduce two new routes
Thomson and First Choice will be increasing capacity at Doncaster Sheffield Airport through the introduction of two new routes during summer 2016, which will go on sale on 23rd April 2015.
The international airport, which will be celebrating its 10 year anniversary this month, will offer once-a-week flights to Heraklion, Crete and Larnaca, Cyprus from May 2016. These two new routes for Thomson from South Yorkshire take the total amount of destinations provided by the holiday company from Doncaster Sheffield Airport to 20.
Karen Switzer, Director of Aviation Planning for Thomson and First Choice, added:
“Adding more capacity from Doncaster Sheffield Airport and the introduction of new Crete and Cyprus routes demonstrates our commitment to the airport and our customers in South Yorkshire and the local area. Following the success of similar routes across a number of regional airports, we know that the demand is there.
“With the on-going work on the new road which will firmly place Robin Hood Airport Doncaster Sheffield at the heart of the city region, our customers will gain even easier access to the airport allowing them to take advantage of our new routes for next summer. After visiting the site last year, I was excited to see the progress made to the road and hear about how it will improve the holiday experience for our customers right from the moment they begin their journey to the airport.
Steve Gill, Managing Director at Doncaster Sheffield Airport, said: “This is fantastic news for our customers who are always looking for new routes to reach new destinations from our Yorkshire base.
“This announcement comes in our 10th birthday month and is a result of our strong relationship with Thomson and First Choice.
“These two new routes now make it a perfect 10 for us as we’ve added 10 new routes in the past 12 months.”
