The latest cargo arrivals at Robin Hood Airport Doncaster Sheffield certainly had more legs and hair than your average passengers!
Champion race horse trainer Aidan O’Brien recently chose to fly a number of his horses to Doncaster Sheffield Airport due to the airports excellence in equine cargo.
The horses flew into the airport from Shannon and were racing at Doncaster Racecourse.
Anglo World Cargo, based at the airport, provides a comprehensive and fast service which allows the horses to trot straight off the plane into awaiting transportation.
Gary Winterman, managing director of Anglo World Cargo, said: “It is fantastic news that horse racing’s elite trainers are using the airport to transport their most prized possessions.
“Equine cargo has become a real specialism of ours – which is helped by the fact we are located in a town famous for its horse racing.
“The feedback from the horse racing trainers is that our service is more efficient than at other airports and the speed in which we move the horses from the aircraft to their horse boxes is second to none.
“We always look forward to the horses flying in and seeing how well they race – we take a great sense of pride in knowing we helped them on their journey to the winning post.”
It has been a successful period for Cargo at Robin Hood Airport Doncaster Sheffield with figures showing over a sixty percent increase within this calendar year to date.
Gary added: “It is great to be able to report a constant rise in our cargo business.
“Cargo is seen as a catalyst for developing the region’s logistics presence and putting Doncaster firmly on the map as a can do location and centre of excellence for logistics.”
