Enjoy a very Merry Christmas with a trip to Poland’s magical marketsOctober 21, 2013
The traditional charms of Europe’s annual Christmas markets are proving to be even more of a draw for Brits than usual with reports showing a year-on-year increase for the festive trips.
Every year thousands of UK residents fly to Europe to experience the historical and magical Christmas Markets.
Steve Gill, Managing Director of Doncaster Sheffield Airport said: “Visiting the European Christmas markets is a great way to start the festive season.
“Some of these markets are hundreds of years old and you get the chance to soak up the history while buying Christmas gifts with difference.
“Poland offers a number of fantastic Christmas markets with specialty food and Polish carols, and a real possibility of a ‘white Christmas Market experience’. Some of the biggest markets take place in Warsaw, Gdansk and Katowice.
“Flights from Robin Hood Airport Doncaster Sheffield direct to these Polish cities with Wizz Air make these holiday festivities closer than you think.”
The Christmas markets in Poland provide a great opportunity for a winter short break. The lights and decorations make these beautiful towns and cities even more memorable and traditional Polish gift items including jewellery from the region, handmade crafts, and Polish Christmas decorations are all on offer.
Mulled wine and cherry vodka will help to warm up visitors who are on the lookout for treasures by local artists and craftsmen.
“The atmosphere is a joy to be part of and is brought to life by the musicians who take to the street, Christmas carol concerts, and folk dances shows,” added Steve Gill.
Wizz Air, the largest low-cost, low-fare airline connecting Western and Eastern Europe, currently operates to six Eastern European destinations from Doncaster Sheffield Airport, including Gdansk, Katowice, Poznan, Warsaw and Wroclaw in Poland and more recently to Vilnius in Lithuania.
