Dream Caribbean cruise becomes a realityMarch 19, 2014
Passengers’ plans to explore the Caribbean Sea on a 14-night cruise are no longer just a dream, thanks to Thomson Cruises!
Flights depart from Robin Hood Airport Doncaster Sheffield on 10 March 2015 arriving in the lively Jamaican town of Montego Bay.
From there passengers will take in several coastal resorts located in Colombia, The San Blas Islands, Panama, Costa Rica, Mexico, Cuba and the Cayman Islands, before returning to Jamaica for the flight back to South Yorkshire on 24 March 2015.
The Thomson Cruises holiday will be on board Thomson Dream, a ship which can accommodate more than 1,500 customers. It has two swimming pools, four restaurants, six bars and 12 decks.
Customers will enjoy the Pride of Panama and Cuba Fusion itineraries over the 14-day sailing, visiting Montego Bay, Cartagena, San Blas, Colon, Puerto Limon, Playa del Carmen, Havana and George Town.
Steve Gill, managing director of Doncaster Sheffield Airport, said: “We are delighted to join-up with our partners Thomson Cruises to offer this special cruise package for travellers.
“This is a very special tour which takes in some stunning places. Cartagena is Colombia’s second-oldest city and the only walled town in the Americas. There are 378 San Blas Islands, most of which have barely ever seen footfall, while Colon is the gateway to one of the most famous landmarks in the world, the Panama Canal! Then there is Havana, George Town, Montego Bay and more to take in and explore.
“The flight to join this cruise is a showcase that Doncaster Sheffield Airport can offer a number of special direct routes to some of the most amazing places in the world.”
Fraser Ellacott, Customer Operations Director for TUI UK & Ireland, said: “We are extremely excited about our itinerary portfolio for winter 2014/15 and have really listened to what our customers want. We also want to make it easier for customers to fly off on their dream cruise from their local airport so we are operating flights to join our cruises from as many regional airports as possible.
“Being the only UK cruise line to offer itineraries directly from Montego Bay as a home port, we know that the variety of the programme needs to be outstanding. I am confident that with the introduction of destinations like Panama, Cuba, Colombia and Costa Rica, we will have an extremely successful season and I can’t wait to see Thomson Dream based in this lively and vibrant port!”
The brand new home port for Thomson Dream means that customers can experience some exciting new tropical destinations right from their doorstep. No other UK or US cruise line offers as many visits to Havana and no other UK cruise line has as many Mexican ports of call.
The new itineraries for Thomson Dream available from Doncaster Sheffield Airport will be ‘Cuban Fusion’ and ‘Pride of Panama’.
Holiday makers from Doncaster and Sheffield will enjoy visits to ports such as Playa del Carmen, famed for having Mexico’s best beaches; Havana, the Cuban city that never sleeps and is famous for its unique 1950s feel and cultural vibrancy.
Other calls off the beaten track include Colon, Panama which is a crumbling colonial district and is the gateway to one of the world’s most famous landmarks, the Panama Canal; and San Blas in Panama where customers can experience the tropical islands and the vibrant Kuna tribe who inhabit them. One stop which really showcases the best of Latin America’s beauty is Puerto Limon in Costa Rica offering a blend of rainforests, wildlife and sun-baked sands.
