Runway Resurface Upgrade
Doncaster Sheffield Airport is currently undertaking important works to upgrade its runway.
Between January 2017 and April 2017 Doncaster Sheffield Airport is investing multi-millions on a full runway resurface project, which will see 2350 metres of the existing runway reburbished by removing 25mm of the original surface and see it replaced with a 50mm overlay increasing the strength and overall life span for present and future operations.
These works are taking place in the evening around the airport’s ever growing schedule of flight departures. The runway will be closed after the last scheduled arrival of the day until the first scheduled departure of the morning. The work has been planned to ensure that the day to day operation of the airport is not disrupted.
These important works will involve 50 construction site operatives, 20 vehicles and a temporary construction plant, including surface planners and asphalt laying machines. We will work to keep disturbance to local residents in the immediate vicinity of the airfield to a minimum. We have consulted with DMBC and the planning department to ensure these works are undertaken in line with policy.
