DFID flight takes off carrying vital aid for cyclone-hit Mozambique
A flight carrying vital aid to areas in Mozambique affected by Cyclone Idai has taken off from Doncaster Sheffield Airport (DSA) on Sunday 24thMarch at 16:00 hrs.
The aircraft chartered by the Department for International Development (DFID) will carry forklift trucks and other cargo handling equipment to Mozambique to help quickly unload aid from planes and cut the time it takes to get relief items to those in need.
Chris Harcombe, Aviation Development Director, Doncaster Sheffield Airport, said: “We have been profoundly moved by the plight of the people of Mozambique affected by Cyclone Idai and are proud to have been chosen to play our part in getting this vital aid to affected areas as quickly as possible.”
